This book was written about 150 years after the book of Jonah.
Try to get the meaning of it. One view, we see that it is about the city of Nineveh — but the whole story is a type of what is going to happen to this same enemy in a still future day.
V.7 What a wonderful promise! May we lay hold of it.
Nahum means “the Lord’s affliction;” and in verse 9 we see that His “affliction shall not rise up the second time.” The Lord’s work on the cross was completed once and forever. Now connect this with Genesis 41:5252And the name of the second called he Ephraim: For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction. (Genesis 41:52).
