V.1-14 Jesus enters into the garden and is betrayed by Judas. In John we do not read of His agony in the garden. But only here do we read of the officers and men falling to the ground, because John shows us the Lord Jesus as the Son of God.
V.15-18, 25-27 Peter denies his Lord. He has lessons to learn. Note the words “Annas had sent Him bound” (v. 24), “then led they Jesus” (v. 28). The blessed Lord Jesus humbly let these wicked people lead Him around! What a low place He took! (Read Phil. 2:7-117But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:7‑11)).
