V.4 A very important subject. For the first time God gives permission to people to eat the flesh of animals. Note this statement — the life of the flesh is in the blood (See Lev. 17:10-1410And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people. 11For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. 12Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood. 13And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust. 14For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off. (Leviticus 17:10‑14)). They were NOT to eat the blood. The body is made up of flesh and blood — the natural life. But we need a new life, a spiritual life. When Jesus died, His blood was poured out shed. When He rose from the dead He was different. He was without blood (Luke 24:39; 139Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. (Luke 24:39)
39And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda; (Luke 1:39) Cor. 15:43-50; 2 Cor. 5:17). If you read Romans 6:2-122God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. (Romans 6:2‑12) carefully you will learn our (believers’) part in all this. We believers are now in a new spiritual life. It is His life; it is eternal life.
V.11-12 Every time you see the rainbow, you can remember that God put it there as His token (reminder), that there never again will be a flood to destroy the earth. But you can also be reminded that the next judgment is worse. God is going to burn up the earth (2 Peter 3:10, 12, 6-7).
V.19-29 The people did not improve. Noah now falls into sin. The human race starts down the road to worldwide corruption once again.
