Discouragement

(Philippians 4:11)

We are . . . cast down, but not destroyed.

I have learned . . . to be content.

Phil. 4:11¹¹Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. (Philippians 4:11)

Did the Apostle Paul get slammed down? Of course he did. He lived 100% for the Lord and yet he was beaten, imprisoned, forsaken by many of his friends and brethren. It was enough to make Paul discouraged. And yet through it all he had a quiet confidence in God that things were all right. Through his hardships he had learned a tremendous lesson - to be content. That’s a great lesson to learn. May we all learn it too - that no matter how hard things may be, God is still in control, He will look after us, and heaven awaits us at the end. Contentment. You can have it even when everything seems against you.
