Destructive to faith. 2 Tim. 2:18¹⁸Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. (2 Timothy 2:18).

Hateful to God. Rev. 2:14, 15¹⁴But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. ¹⁵So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. (Revelation 2:14‑15).

Unprofitable and vain. Titus 3:9⁹But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. (Titus 3:9). Heb. 13:9⁹Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. (Hebrews 13:9).

SHOULD BE AVOIDED BY

Ministers. 1 Tim. 1:4⁴Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. (1 Timothy 1:4). 1 Tim. 6:20²⁰O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: (1 Timothy 6:20).

Saints. Eph. 4:14¹⁴That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; (Ephesians 4:14). Col. 2:8⁸Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8).

All men. Jer. 23:16¹⁶Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord. (Jeremiah 23:16). Jer. 29:3³By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying, (Jeremiah 29:3).

The wicked love. 2 Tim. 4:3, 4³For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; ⁴And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:3‑4).

The wicked given up to believe. 2 Thess. 2:11¹¹And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: (2 Thessalonians 2:11).

TEACHERS OF

Not to be countenanced. 2 John. 10.

Should be avoided. Rom. 16:17, 18¹⁷Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. ¹⁸For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. (Romans 16:17‑18).

Bring reproach on religion. 2 Peter 2:2²And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2 Peter 2:2).

Speak perverse things. Acts 20:30³⁰Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. (Acts 20:30).

Attract many. 2 Peter 2:2²And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. (2 Peter 2:2).

Deceive many. Matt. 24:5⁵For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:5).

Shall abound in the latter days. 1 Tim. 4:1¹Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; (1 Timothy 4:1).

Pervert the gospel of Christ. Gal. 1:6, 7⁶I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: ⁷Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (Galatians 1:6‑7).

Shall be exposed. 2 Tim. 3:9⁹But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. (2 Timothy 3:9).

TEACHERS OF, ARE DESCRIBED AS

Cruel. Acts 20:29²⁹For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. (Acts 20:29).

Deceitful. 2 Cor. 11:13¹³For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. (2 Corinthians 11:13).

Covetous. Titus 1:11¹¹Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. (Titus 1:11). 2 Peter 2:3³And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not. (2 Peter 2:3).

Ungodly. Jude 4, 8⁴For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. (Jude 4)
⁸Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. (Jude 8).

Proud and ignorant. 1 Tim. 6:3, 4³If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; ⁴He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, (1 Timothy 6:3‑4).

Corrupt and reprobate. 2 Tim. 3:8⁸Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. (2 Timothy 3:8).

Try, by Scripture. Isa. 8:20²⁰To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. (Isaiah 8:20). 1 John 4:1¹Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. (1 John 4:1).

Curse on those who teach. Gal. 1:8, 9⁸But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. ⁹As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8‑9).

Punishment of those who teach. Mic. 3:6, 7⁶Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them. ⁷Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God. (Micah 3:6‑7). 2 Peter 2:1, 3¹But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. (2 Peter 2:1)
