The organ of hearing. Job 13:1¹Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it. (Job 13:1). Job 29:11¹¹When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me: (Job 29:11).

Capable of trying and distinguishing words. Job 12:11¹¹Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat? (Job 12:11).

GOD

Made. Prov. 20:12¹²The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them. (Proverbs 20:12).

Planted. Psa. 94:9⁹He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see? (Psalm 94:9).

Opens. Job 33:16¹⁶Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, (Job 33:16). Job 36:10¹⁰He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity. (Job 36:10).

Judicially closes. Isa. 6:10¹⁰Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed. (Isaiah 6:10), with Matt. 13:15¹⁵For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. (Matthew 13:15).

Christ opens. Isa. 35:5⁵Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. (Isaiah 35:5). Isa. 43:8, 10⁸Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. (Isaiah 43:8)
¹⁰Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. (Isaiah 43:10).

Instruction received through. Isa. 30:21²¹And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isaiah 30:21).

That hears and receives the word of God, blessed. Ex. 15:26²⁶And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee. (Exodus 15:26). Matt. 13:16¹⁶But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. (Matthew 13:16).

SHOULD

Seek knowledge. Prov. 18:15¹⁵The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge. (Proverbs 18:15).

Be bowed down to instructions. Prov. 5:1¹My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding: (Proverbs 5:1).

Be inclined to wisdom. Prov. 2:2²So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; (Proverbs 2:2).

Be given to the law of God. Isa. 1:10¹⁰Hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:10).

Receive the word of God. Jer. 9:20²⁰Yet hear the word of the Lord, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbor lamentation. (Jeremiah 9:20).

Hear and obey reproof. Prov. 15:31³¹The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise. (Proverbs 15:31). Prov. 25:12¹²As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear. (Proverbs 25:12).

Not satisfied with earthly things. Ecc. 1:8.

OF THE WICKED

Uncircumcised. Jer. 9:25²⁵Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised; (Jeremiah 9:25). Acts 7:51⁵¹Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. (Acts 7:51).

Itching. 2 Tim. 4:3³For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; (2 Timothy 4:3).

Not inclined to hear God. Jer. 7:24²⁴But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. (Jeremiah 7:24). Jer. 35:15¹⁵I have sent also unto you all my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Return ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and go not after other gods to serve them, and ye shall dwell in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me. (Jeremiah 35:15).

Turned away from God's law. Prov. 28:9⁹He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination. (Proverbs 28:9).

Stopped against God's word. Psa. 58:4⁴Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; (Psalm 58:4). Zech. 7:11¹¹But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. (Zechariah 7:11).

Not to be stopped at cry of the poor Pro. 21:13¹³Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. (Proverbs 21:13).

BLOOD PUT ON THE RIGHT EAR OF

Priest at consecration. Ex. 29:20²⁰Then shalt thou kill the ram, and take of his blood, and put it upon the tip of the right ear of Aaron, and upon the tip of the right ear of his sons, and upon the thumb of their right hand, and upon the great toe of their right foot, and sprinkle the blood upon the altar round about. (Exodus 29:20). Lev. 8:23²³And he slew it; and Moses took of the blood of it, and put it upon the tip of Aaron's right ear, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot. (Leviticus 8:23).

The healed leper in cleansing him. Lev. 14:14¹⁴And the priest shall take some of the blood of the trespass offering, and the priest shall put it upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot: (Leviticus 14:14).

Often adorned with rings. Ezek. 16:12¹²And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head. (Ezekiel 16:12). Hos. 2:13¹³And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the Lord. (Hosea 2:13).

Of servants who refused to leave their masters, bored to the door. Ex. 21:6⁶Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever. (Exodus 21:6). Deut. 15:17¹⁷Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise. (Deuteronomy 15:17).
