Éxodo 30:34-38³⁴And the Lord said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight: ³⁵And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy: ³⁶And thou shalt beat some of it very small, and put of it before the testimony in the tabernacle of the congregation, where I will meet with thee: it shall be unto you most holy. ³⁷And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the Lord. ³⁸Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people. (Exodus 30:34‑38)

Era de un perfume santo, compuesto de cuatro especias, preparadas según el mandato de Jehová. La persona que hiciera perfume semejante sería cortada de su pueblo. La razón de esto era porque el sahumerio es figura de aquella santa fragancia del carácter y de los caminos del Señor Jesús que siempre ascendía a Dios. Nuestras alabanzas a Dios son las especias de las cuales no debe hacerse imitación alguna. ¡Qué farsa es la adoración fingida compuesta por los inconversos, con sus canciones religiosas ostentando un culto a Dios cuando no le conocen! Tal cosa no trae ningún perfume a Dios, más bien es abominable delante de Él.

Pero ¡cuán precioso debe ser el culto rendido a Dios por un puñado de Sus santos comprados con sangre, congregados quizás en algún rinconcito, pero hablando de la dignidad de Jesús al oído abierto del Padre, sus corazones ardientes de amor sincero! Tal es, de veras, un perfume de olor de suavidad a Él.

Hay que notar, que el fuego fue sacado del altar de sacrificio; quiere decir que ningún fuego, tanto como ningún perfume extraño, era aceptable. El mismo fuego que había consumido la víctima tenía que arder en el altar de perfume, y la sangre del sacrificio debía santificar sus cuernos. Así en la adoración debemos tener siempre el Calvario delante del alma, para que rindamos culto verdadero y agradable delante de Dios. Y en gloria el cántico nuevo será: “Digno eres, ... porque Tú fuiste inmolado, y nos has redimido para Dios con Tu sangre”, diciendo los ángeles también: “El Cordero que fue inmolado es digno” (Apocalipsis 5:9,12⁹And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; (Revelation 5:9)

El único poder para la adoración verdadera es por el Espíritu de Dios (Juan 4:23-24²³But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. ²⁴God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:23‑24)); todo lo demás es “fuego extraño”. Si nuestro culto no es el fruto de la operación del Espíritu en el alma, no es más que “arrogantes palabras de vanidad” (2 Pedro 2:18¹⁸For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error. (2 Peter 2:18)).

¡Que sean nuestras almas guardadas en el temor de Dios, adorándole sinceramente, y en Su presencia, hasta que le veamos cara a cara!
