Eternal things cannot be bought—
They all exceed in fame;
Satisfaction can he had,
Through faith in Jesus’ Name.
God is too rich to sell it us,
And we too poor to buy;
if life were to be offered thus,
Then surely we must die.
But, O, God knew we could not pay,
So He was pleased to lay
Believer’s sins on Christ His Son,
Who bore them all away.
