Eternity.

PASSING the other day through a burial-ground in the country, an inscription on a head-stone struck my eye. The stone was by the side of the path, where everyone could see it; and it was placed there in memory of a youth who died at the age of 17 years. The inscription was—

“Reader, one moment

Stop and think,

That I am in eternity,

And you are on the brink.”

A youth only 17 years of age in eternity! “And you are on the brink!” Yes, though you may be young, apparently healthy, full of life and spirits, you are on the brink of eternity. Where will you be in eternity? Are you reconciled to God by the death of His Son? Romans 5:10¹⁰For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. (Romans 5:10).

Jesus thinks of little ones

All the night and day,—

All the time they’re sleeping,

And while they are at play,—

And guards, His little ones.
