Moabites.
 They were to be holy, not because they were better than everyone else, but because Jehovah was their God....They were a sanctified people, separated unto Jehovah, and they were not to behave like the nations. (The Condition of the Remnant in Judea -Ezra 9:1-2 by N. Simon)
 How vividly this translates to our present day. God’s injunction to be holy remains true as we have already observed: “Be ye holy; for I am holy” (1 Pet. 1:16), and why? Not because we are under law, but because we have “been redeemed  ...  with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (1 Pet. 1:18-19).  It is as if Satan, having gained the advantage over them, would mock at and triumph over them by displaying the most horrible forms of the flesh. In the case before us, it was not only the abominations of the Canaanites, etc. (the former inhabitants of the land), but also those of the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites, into which the children of the captivity had fallen, that is, into every possible form of corruption.
