He Found the Savior

Mr. Wan lived in the mountains of southern Hunan in China. He had followed a false religion for 60 years. For part of his life, people had come to him to cast out demons from the sick and to help people who were dying.
Mr. Wan didn’t know anyone who was a Christian. The nearest missionary lived two days’ journey away. But somehow he got a copy of part of the Bible written in his own language.
At first as he read the little book, he really liked certain parts of it. But his long life in a false religion made it hard for him to believe what he read about the living God and His Son, Jesus Christ. Sometimes when he had read a few verses, he would throw the book down. But then he would pick it up again. There was something about the story of Jesus that was very beautiful to him.
But then, one of those times as Mr. Wan read, he came to the word “Savior.” Suddenly it was a message straight to his heart. At last he understood the gospel, the story of God’s love to men and women, boys and girls. All of us have a conscience that tells us that we have sinned against God, but the Bible tells us that the very same God we’ve sinned against has provided a Savior.
Mr. Wan read on in his little book, perhaps coming to that wonderful verse, John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Whatever it was, he understood that he only needed to believe.
Now Mr. Wan had eternal life! He no longer needed his idols, so he gathered all of them up and destroyed them. The living God was his God now! “I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people  ... a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:10-1110And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10‑11)).
