Honoring God and His Word

“The Lord saith... Them that honor Me, I will honor.” 1 Samuel 2:30³⁰Wherefore the Lord God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the Lord saith, Be it far from me; for them that honor me I will honor, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed. (1 Samuel 2:30).

The ambition of every child of God should be to honor every word of the living God, and to be content with that honor that comes from God only. To such a one, the crowns and scepters of earth, its glories, dignities and riches are esteemed as toys, not worth grasping after. Our Lord says,

“If any man serve Me, him will My Father honor.” John 12:26²⁶If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor. (John 12:26).

Here is found the true clue to honor. Not that which comes from man, but that which comes new in measure to the faithful servant from the living God.
