NEW-BORN souls are often puzzled as to this, especially when they are so frequently warned about "historical faith," "faith of assurance," "faith of reliance," &c.
Surely the following is a simple answer: That is the right faith which rests upon the right object. If your faith rests solely upon the One who died for your sins and rose again for your justification, you may be sure it is that faith which is the gift of God (Eph. 2:88For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (Ephesians 2:8)), "the, faith of God's elect" His excellence become to your gaze superior to everything you have hitherto trusted in, whether it be prayers, works, ordinances, or the so-called means of grace; you rest in Him, you enter not merely into God's satisfaction, but God’s delight in Him.
