"I Want to Be Sure About It"

AT THE close of a children’s meeting a little boy came up to the speaker and said, “I want to be sure about it, sir.” “What do you want to be sure about, my boy?” he asked.

“About my salvation, sir,” he replied.

They sat down side by side, and spoke for a long time about Christ and His precious blood. They read several portions of Scripture, such as, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31³¹And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31).

“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life.” John 3:36³⁶He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36).

“I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish.” John 10:28²⁸And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. (John 10:28).

These verses make all who believe sure about their salvation, and at the close of the conversation, the dear little fellow said, “I am sure about it now.”

“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life.” 1 John 5:13¹³These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (1 John 5:13).
