Injustice.

Forbidden. Lev. 19:15, 35¹⁵Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbor. (Leviticus 19:15)
³⁵Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure. (Leviticus 19:35). Deut. 16:19¹⁹Thou shalt not wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift doth blind the eyes of the wise, and pervert the words of the righteous. (Deuteronomy 16:19).

SPECIALLY TO BE AVOIDED TOWARDS

The poor. Ex. 23:6⁶Thou shalt not wrest the judgment of thy poor in his cause. (Exodus 23:6). Prov. 22:16, 22, 23¹⁶He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want. (Proverbs 22:16)
²²Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: ²³For the Lord will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them. (Proverbs 22:22‑23).

The stranger and fatherless. Exo. 22:21, 22²¹Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt. ²²Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. (Exodus 22:21‑22). Deut. 24:17¹⁷Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow's raiment to pledge: (Deuteronomy 24:17). Jer. 22:3³Thus saith the Lord; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place. (Jeremiah 22:3).

Servants. Job 31:13, 14¹³If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me; ¹⁴What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him? (Job 31:13‑14). Deut. 24:14¹⁴Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates: (Deuteronomy 24:14). Jer. 22:13¹³Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbor's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work; (Jeremiah 22:13).

Of the least kind, condemned. Luke 16:10¹⁰He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. (Luke 16:10).

GOD

Regards. Ecc. 5:8.

Approves not of. Lam. 3:35, 36³⁵To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the most High, ³⁶To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. (Lamentations 3:35‑36).

Abominates. Prov. 17:15¹⁵He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the Lord. (Proverbs 17:15). Prov. 20:10¹⁰Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the Lord. (Proverbs 20:10).

Hears the cry of those who suffer. James 5:4⁴Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth. (James 5:4).

Provoked to avenge. Psa. 12:5⁵For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the Lord; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him. (Psalm 12:5). Brings a curse. Deut. 27:17, 19¹⁷Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen. (Deuteronomy 27:17)
¹⁹Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen. (Deuteronomy 27:19).

A bad example leads to. Ex. 23:2²Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: (Exodus 23:2).

Intemperance leads to. Prov. 31:5⁵Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. (Proverbs 31:5).

Covetousness leads to. Jer. 6:13¹³For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. (Jeremiah 6:13).

Ezek. 22:12¹²In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbors by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel 22:12). Mic. 2:2²And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. (Micah 2:2).

SAINTS SHOULD

Hate. Prov. 29:27²⁷An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked. (Proverbs 29:27).

Testify against. Psa. 58:1, 2¹<<To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, Michtam of David.>> Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? ²Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. (Psalm 58:1‑2). Mic.

3:8, 9.

Bear, patiently. 1 Cor. 6:7⁷Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded? (1 Corinthians 6:7).

Take no vengeance for. Matt. 5:39³⁹But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also. (Matthew 5:39).

THE WICKED

Deal with. Isa. 26:10¹⁰Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord. (Isaiah 26:10).

Judge with. Psa. 82:2²How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah. (Psalm 82:2). Ecc. 3:16. Hab. 1:4⁴Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. (Habakkuk 1:4).

Practice, without shame. Jer. 6:13, 15¹³For from the least of them even unto the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely. (Jeremiah 6:13)
¹⁵Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, saith the Lord. (Jeremiah 6:15). Zeph. 3:5⁵The just Lord is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame. (Zephaniah 3:5).

Punishment of. Prov. 11:7⁷When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. (Proverbs 11:7). Prov. 28:8⁸He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor. (Proverbs 28:8). Amos 5:11, 12¹¹Forasmuch therefore as your treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them. ¹²For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right. (Amos 5:11‑12). Amos 8:5, 8⁵Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit? (Amos 8:5)
⁸Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. (Amos 8:8). 1 Thess. 4:6⁶That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified. (1 Thessalonians 4:6).

Exemplified. Potiphar, Gen. 39:20²⁰And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. (Genesis 39:20). Sons of Samuel, 1 Sam. 8:3. Ahab, 1 Kin. 21:10, 15, 16. Jews, Isa. 59:14¹⁴And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. (Isaiah 59:14). Princes, dc. Dan. 6:4⁴Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. (Daniel 6:4). Judas, Matt. 27:4⁴Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. (Matthew 27:4). Pilate, Matt. 27:24-26²⁴When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. ²⁵Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. ²⁶Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. (Matthew 27:24‑26). Priests, dc. Acts 4:3³And they laid hands on them, and put them in hold unto the next day: for it was now eventide. (Acts 4:3). Festus, Acts 24:27²⁷But after two years Porcius Festus came into Felix' room: and Felix, willing to show the Jews a pleasure, left Paul bound. (Acts 24:27).
