Juicy Strawberries

It was summertime, and Mac and Meg (who were about 7 and 6 years old) were visiting their uncle’s farm. It was a very interesting place. There were pigs and chickens to feed, working horses, and there were cows to milk. There was a well with a cover on it, and their aunt would keep her milk, cream and butter in the well to keep them cool. There were many different and fun things to do on the farm, like riding on the hay wagon, learning how to milk a cow, feeding the pigs and watching them scramble for the food! They lived by the river, and sometimes their aunt would take them rowing in the cove.
Their uncle grew strawberries for the market. They would have strawberries for breakfast with their cereal, strawberries with milk and sugar for dessert at lunch, and often a delicious strawberry shortcake for supper! Mac and Meg loved the juicy strawberries and never got tired of eating them.
One evening Mac suggested to Meg that it would be fun to sneak a box of strawberries upstairs at bedtime and have a nice juicy bedtime snack. Mac got the strawberries, and they had just gone upstairs to get ready for bed when Aunt Georgie appeared. She had noticed Mac sneaking off with the strawberries! There was also Someone else who saw them. Maybe you can guess who that was.
Do you know that the Bible says, “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:33The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3))? And another verse says, “Be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:2323But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. (Numbers 32:23)). The Bible also tells us that God is keeping a record of all our works (that includes our sins)—they are all recorded in His book. God loves us and sent His Son to die on the cross for us. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:1616For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)). When we come to Jesus and trust Him to wash our sins away, God writes “forgiven” across the record of all our sins.
Aunt Georgie took the box of strawberries and the children were scolded for their naughtiness. Mac and Meg were quite young, but they knew they were doing wrong. I am happy to tell you that both Mac and Meg asked the Lord Jesus to wash away their sins and have been happily trusting the Lord for many long years.
Don’t wait, dear children. Come to the Lord Jesus now before it is too late! “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:22(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) (2 Corinthians 6:2)).
