La debilidad no debe ser un pretexto para el relajamiento

Atraigo igualmente nuestra atención sobre el principio que, aunque este fue un día de flaqueza, debilidad y humillación, este no debería ser un día de negligencia, al contrario, de gran vigilancia. El pueblo de Dios debía también estar atento y velando por honrar el Nombre de Jehová como cuando todo estaba en el pleno poder y belleza del orden Divino. Este es un muy precioso principio para nosotros ahora. En la actual confusión de la cristiandad, somos llamados a ser vigilantes en relación con aquellos que invocan el Nombre del Señor y reclaman una relación con Dios, antes de reconocerlos como miembros del cuerpo de Cristo y como verdaderos adoradores reuniéndose a Su Nombre. Es esto lo que nos da derecho a demandar que estos prueben su genealogía. El motivo es simple: multitudes se arrogan hoy este título de cristianos sin tener derecho a este. Debemos exigir la prueba de que ellos son realmente lo que profesan ser; no debemos contentarnos con una profesión general sino que tenemos que asegurarnos cuidadosamente de la realidad de la fe. Sin ponerla en duda, tenemos que esperar la prueba manifiesta, adecuada para convencernos de ello.
Esta precaución no era necesaria en los primeros días de la historia de la Iglesia. El Espíritu Santo descendió entonces en poder para abrir una economía nueva, llamando a los hombres a romper sus antiguas asociaciones y reunirse al Nombre del Señor. El peligro era menos grande, porque el oprobio era tal que, de una manera general, los hombres no se acercaban a menos de ser verdaderamente conducidos por Dios. Podía suceder sin duda un Simón el mago, sensible a estas cosas, sin ser alcanzado en su conciencia y codiciando el poder que podía servir a sus propósitos egoístas (Hechos 8:9-249But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one: 10To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. 11And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries. 12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 13Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. 14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: 15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: 16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) 17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. 18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, 19Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. 20But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. 21Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 22Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. 23For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. 24Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me. (Acts 8:9‑24)); pero, normalmente lo repito, los hombres no venían si no eran sinceros. En nuestros días, no es más así, sabemos que los hombres se engañan a sí mismos, llegando hasta ignorar lo que significa verdaderamente ser convertido a Dios, o miembro del cuerpo de Cristo. Muchos han sido falsamente enseñados: ellos han sido educados en una atmósfera mal sana y corrupta; por tanto es necesario, repito, que exijamos la prueba de su genealogía, es decir, la plena evidencia de que ellos realmente pertenecen a Cristo y forman parte de la familia de Dios.
Puede haber en el momento presente, personas en una condición tal que no los recibiríamos sobre la tierra, y que veremos en el cielo. Puede haber personas que deberán ser actualmente rechazadas porque no han podido probar su genealogía: ellas son salvas, sin gozar esta comunión. El Señor puede discernir, en medio de muchas cosas dolorosas, lo que es real; pero nosotros debemos mirar simplemente a Dios y actuar de acuerdo a la medida de discernimiento que Él nos ha dado en cada caso.
