Lost At Sea

Thirty men aboard the ship, the Lee Wang Zin, all died, and no one knows why. The crew disappeared when the huge freighter loaded with iron ore capsized off the coast of Alaska for no known reason. In answer to radio distress signals, rescue ships were sent to try to rescue them. But when the freighter was finally sighted, it was completely upside down, and there was no sign of life. What had happened to the crew? Had they all died and gone into eternity?
Since there was no sign of survivors or life rafts, the rescuers made every effort to determine if any of the ship’s 30 crewmen were still alive inside the ship. With difficulty, they were able to climb onto the overturned ship. They tried to contact any of the crew who might be trapped inside.
Being trapped with no possibility of escape must be a terrible experience, yet many in the world today are trapped in a worse place than an upturned boat. Men and women, boys and girls, often go through this world without thinking about the fact that they are slaves of sin and Satan, headed for death and an eternity in the lake of fire. One day, even if they aren’t prepared, they will die. God is a loving God and doesn’t want this to happen to anyone. And so the Bible warns us, “Prepare to meet thy God” (Amos 4:12).
The courageous efforts of the would-be rescuers at the Lee Wang Zin were useless. After five minutes they knew they were the only men alive on that ship. But they tried one more thing. A rescuer dressed in diving gear was able to get inside the overturned ship. When he came back up to the surface, he had to report the sad fact that he had not found anyone, dead or alive, as he explored the boat. The strange thing was that there were fully-equipped life rafts on the boat, but they had not been used.
For the 30 men of the Lee Wang Zin, it was too late. They had passed from this world into eternity. If you had been one of the crew of the Lee Wang Zin, where would your never-dying soul be now? The Bible says, “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2). It also tells us to “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31). Believe in Him now; accept Him as your own Savior and be sure your sins have been forgiven!
