a
"And went away home." Such is the true connection and rendering.
b
This verse is retained by some Edd. but rejected or discredited by others who suppose that it was drawn from {vi 26872}{/vi}. It is however, attested by good MSS. Among these one omits "lying (laid)," while others do not have "alone (by themselves)." It is strange that any critics should have been moved by an erratic MS. to doubt chapter 24:12 and 40.
