Luke, the beloved physician.
Although Luke, a doctor, wrote both the gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, he is only mentioned three times in the New Testament, and each time it is by Paul as he wrote to others. Luke hid himself so that the working of the Spirit through others might be shown. He was Paul’s travel companion and was also with Paul during Paul’s second imprisonment. Other helpers forsook the Apostle but Luke remained. What an encouragement for us to see one who would be willing to be in the background and yet remain one in whom the Apostle could have complete confidence.
