Large stone buildings often impress us. In awe, the disciples called the Lord’s attention to the great buildings in Jerusalem, but He said that they would all be cast down. What we see in the world today will soon be torn down too. “The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day” (Isaiah 2:1111The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day. (Isaiah 2:11)). That will be a day of judgment for the wicked and of trial for believers. The Lord will be with His own during the trial, and when they are brought before rulers and kings, the Holy Spirit will tell them what to speak. How good it is to wait on the Lord so that we can give our friends and neighbors a word from God. The Lord even tells His own where to flee. He has a hiding place for them in the mountains of Judea!
Not everyone speaks the truth today. We must see if what people say agrees with what the Bible says. The Lord warned that false Christs and false prophets would try to seduce the elect people of God. If the disciples were real and had faith in Christ, they would be preserved through those terrible days.
Many people make predictions, and they never come to pass. However, when the Lord says that something will take place, we can be sure it will come to pass. The outlook for this world is judgment before blessing. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but before then, all those that love the Lord Jesus will be caught up to be forever with Himself.
