What a surprise awaited the women as they approached the sepulcher early in the morning on the first day of the week! The stone was rolled away, and when they looked inside, an angel was there, but not the Lord. The angel knew that the women were looking for Jesus of Nazareth and told them that He was risen. What astonishment must have filled their hearts as they ran to carry such wonderful tidings to the disciples! But, strange to say, when Mary Magdalene told them that He was alive, they didn’t believe her. It was not until He appeared to the 11 disciples and sat with them that they realized it was true. Now the Lord wanted them to carry the good news to all the world. The Lord enabled them to perform wonderful miracles, so that people could be sure that the gospel was true. Do you think that after the Lord went back to heaven, the apostles were left alone? No; the Lord would be working with them (as with us), in all that is done for Him.
