Philippians 2:5‑8
“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: but made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross” ―
Philippians 2:5-8
5
Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. (Philippians 2:5‑8)
.
THE mind that was in Christ Jesus is the lowly mind. He ever sought the glory of His Father and the blessing of others. In His gracious condescension He who had every right to command became servant of all. Though in the form of God from Eternity He did not consider equality with God the Father something to be retained, but He divested Himself of the outward semblance of Deity, the glory that He had with the Father before the world was, and took a bondman’s form. Having become Man He humbled Himself yet farther, stooping to death, and such a death, that of the cross. This is the One whose example the Spirit brings before us, that our ways may be conformed to His.
“Thou would’et like wretched man be made
In everything but sin;
That we as like Thee might become
As we unlike had been.”
