Persecute: “To harass or punish in a manner designed to injure, grieve or afflict, specifically to cause to suffer because of belief.” Compromise: “Something intermediate between or blending qualities of two different things.” Satan wants us to blend God’s truth with Satan’s lies, and by doing so to avoid persecution. Our Lord says to us, “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also” (John 15:2020Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. (John 15:20)). “They shall  ...  persecute you  ...  for My name’s sake” (Luke 21:1212But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake. (Luke 21:12)). “They departed  ...  rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name” (Acts 5:4,104Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. (Acts 5:4)
10Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. (Acts 5:10)
). “Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not” (Rom. 12:1414Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. (Romans 12:14)).
