The blessed and precious truth of the coming of the Lord for His own is ever presented to us as a present reality, and the reason for this is on account of its practical bearing upon our walk. Our questions, in the past months, on this subject, have brought many answers from Scripture, which show what should characterize us, both in our behavior and service, and we trust these portions will not be forgotten, but that there will be results from our searchings, bringing forth fruit in us to His praise and glory.
The very practical character of the second coming of Christ is found everywhere throughout the New Testament, but in no instance, perhaps, it is more strongly marked than by the apostle John: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God; and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself even as He is pure." 1 John 3:2-42Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 3And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 4Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. (1 John 3:2‑4).
As God has shown us so plainly in His Word that we are in the last moments, may each one of us seek to act according to this scripture, yea, all the many exhortations that are given to us in this connection.
