Praise

Praise, is what God delights in. It tells Him that His creatures are finding their joy in Him, and that is the highest blessing they can have.
But can little children praise? O, yes, they are specially spoken of as praising!
“Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings Thou hast perfected praise,” were the words of the Lord Jesus (Matt. 21:1616And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise? (Matthew 21:16)), who rejoiced in the praises of the dear children of Jerusalem.
Do you think He has changed since then?
“Ah! no,” you say, “for Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Heb. 13:88Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. (Hebrews 13:8)).
“My lips shall utter praise when Thou hast taught me Thy statutes.” Psa. 119:171171My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. (Psalm 119:171). And in another verse the psalmist says,
What does he mean? Well, you see, it is when we receive God’s words into our hearts that they become our song. A little girl once wrote to another little girl,
“I write to tell you that I am saved ... Now I can sing the hymn,
‘My soul rests on the Lamb.’”
When she believed God’s Word about Jesus, the Lamb of God, she could sing of Him as the rest of her soul. I wonder if you, little reader, could sing like that little girl?
It is a joyful thing to belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. Of course not all singing is praise; sometimes, we sing a prayer, sometimes an invitation or a warning. Praise is our hearts going up to God, telling Him what He is to us, whether we sing it or just simply speak to Him. It is only saved people that sing to God, and to the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.” Psa. 147:11Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. (Psalm 147:1).
