When I was young, I had an aunt I liked very much. She had work to do and burdens that would worry most people and some trials, but no matter what, she had smiles. I often thought about the reason for those smiles, but I could not guess where she found so much love and so many smiles.
One day I went upstairs and opened a closet door in a quiet part of the house. I was surprised to see my aunt in there on her knees. Instantly the thought darted through my mind, It is here where she gets her smiles. I stood silent for a moment; then I closed the door softly, feeling very sorry I had interrupted her, for I was sure she was speaking with her God. She loved to pray. “A merry heart [makes] a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken” (Proverbs 15:1313A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. (Proverbs 15:13)).
