• The north is not mentioned because, it has been suggested, the enemy that attacks the land of Israel comes from that quarter, and hence there would be no thought of help coming from the North. The people of God have to learn that help does not come from any quarter of the earth. It comes from God. (“Psalms 75” by H. Smith)
• The word is ‘lifting up,’ and continues the thought of verse 4 and 5. It is not the idea of exalting a person to a place of prominence, but rather deliverance of the crushed by ‘lifting them’ up from the dust. The expression is found again in verse 10, where the word ‘exalted’ should be translated ‘lifted up.’ This thought of ‘lifting up’ is found in verses 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10. (“Psalms 75” by H. Smith)
