Verses 1-5 are the holy city in the Millennium. The pure river of water shows that there is blessing for everyone in the city. Jesus is the tree that has given us eternal life. The leaves of the tree will heal the nations so people can live 1000 years. In the Millennium, we believers will serve in the government of Jesus Christ the King in His kingdom. When we see the face of Jesus Christ, we will honor Him with His name in our foreheads. Everyone will know that we belong to Jesus Christ the King. There will be no night in the city, nor lamps nor sun, for the Lord God is the light of it. We will serve Christ throughout the entire Millennium.
The next verses go back in time to us now on the earth. Jesus tells us He is coming quickly, so we should be busy doing the work of the Lord. He says we are holy, so we should act holy. Again, Jesus says, I come quickly to reward you for being faithful to do the work of the Lord now while you are here on earth.
When Jesus comes to take us to heaven, it will be like a new day for us. He will come like the bright and morning star. We the bride, together with the Spirit of God, say to the sinners, “Come. Believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved before the Lord Jesus comes.” The last words of Jesus are, “Surely I come quickly.” We are happy to say, “Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”
