1.
Yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.
If from guilt and sin set tree
By the knowledge of thy grace,
Welcome then the call will come
To depart and see thy face.
Ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
2.
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations.
Christ knows how much the weak can bear,
And helps them when they cry;
The strongest have no strength to spare,
For such he’ll strongly try.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
3.
The just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
Grace alone can cure our ills,
Sweeten life with all its cares,
Regulate our stubborn wills,
Save us from surrounding snares.
But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
4.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
When my prayers are a burden and task,
No wonder I little receive:
O Lord, make me willing to ask,
Since thou art so ready to give.
Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
5.
The Lord will not cast off for ever: But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.
No voice but thine can give me rest,
And bid my fears depart;
No love but thine can make me blest,
And satisfy my heart.
He doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men.
6.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes.
O send thy Spirit down to write
Thy law upon my heart,
Nor let my tongue indulge deceit,
Nor act the liar’s part.
Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name’s sake.
7.
Thou, O LORD, remainest for ever; thy throne from generation to generation.
This God is the God we adore,
Our faithful, unchangeable friend,
Whose love is as great as his power,
And neither knows measure nor end.
Turn thou us unto thee, O LORD, and we shall be turned.
8.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Great God, create my heart anew,
And form my spirit pure and true;
O make me wise betimes to spy
My danger and my remedy.
O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us.
9.
In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee.
God of my life, how good, how wise
Thy judgments to my soul have been
They were but mercies in disguise,
The painful remedies of sin:
How different now thy ways appear,
Most merciful when most severe.
I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.
10.
Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
Our God will every want supply,
And fill our hearts with peace;
He gives by covenant and by oath,
The riches of his grace.
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
11.
Brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.
Though we are feeble, Christ is strong,
His promises are true;
We shall be conquerors all ere long,
And more than conquerors too.
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12.
The LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
All my trust on thee is stayed,
All my help from thee I brings
Cover my defenseless head
With the shadow of thy wine.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.
13.
I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy Redeemer.
Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfil thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears for ever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and thou alone.
Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
14.
The Lord GOD will help me; therefore shall I not be confounded.
Oh thy faithfulness relying,
We may boldly meet the foe,
All his boasted power defying
While we come defended so;
God will save us,
This our enemies shall know.
Therefore have I set my face like a flint, and I know that I shall not be ashamed.
15.
He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me?
Praise the Lamb—his love unbounded
Is the theme of praise in heaven;.
On his death our hopes are founded,
For we know his life was given;
And we trust that by his blood
We are reconciled to God.
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice.
16.
Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me?
Nothing in my hands I bring,
Simply to thy cross I cling;
Naked; come to thee for dress;
Helpless, look to thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly,
Wash me, Saviour, or I die.
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
17.
I, even I, am he that comforteth you.
Shine, Lord, and my terrors shall cease,
The blood of atonement apply;
And lead me to Jesus for peace,
The Rock that is higher than I.
Let, I pray thee, thy merciful kindness be for my comfort.
18.
Is Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to save my soul from danger,
Interposed his precious blood.
Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
19.
All the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
Great God; whose universal sway
The known and unknown worlds obey,
Now give the kingdom to thy Son,
Extend his power. each his throne.
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
20.
He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
Dear dying Lamb, thy precious blood
Shall never lose its power,
Till all the ransomed church of God
Be saved, to sin no more.
As by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
21.
For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
Good when he gives, supremely good,
Nor less when he denies:
E’eu crosses from his sovereign hand
Are blessings in disguise.
He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
22.
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
Let us love and sing and wonder,
Let us praise the Saviour’s name:
He has hushed the law’s loud thunder,
He has quenched mount Sinai’s flames,
He has washed us with His blood,
He has brought us night to God.
Ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
23.
Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
Ho ye that pant for living streams,
And pine away and die;
How you may quench your raging thirst
With springs that never dry.
If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
24.
All thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
Find in Christ the way of peace,
Pure unspeakable, unknown;
By His pain He gives you ease,
Life, by His expiring groan:
Being exalted by His fall,
Find in Christ your all in all.
Great peace have they which love thy law.
25.
To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him.
Jesus, thou art all compassion,
Pure, unbounded love thou art;
Visit us with thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.
O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face ... because we have sinned against thee.
26.
Rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
In every pang that rends the heart,
“The Man of sorrows” had a part;
He sympathizes in our grief,
And to the sufferer sends relief.
If any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
27.
He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
Lord, it is not life to live,
If thy presence thou deny;
Lord, if thou thy presence give,
‘Tis no longer death to die:
Source and giver of repose,
Singly from thy smile it flows;
Peace and happiness are thine—
Mine they are, if thou art mine.
I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
28.
I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him and to his mourners.
Cast me not off, almighty Lord,
But use thy rod and not thy sword
The cross no longer I decline,
But save me from the curse divine.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
29.
I will not contend for ever, neither will I be always wroth: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.
My Father in mercy reproves,
Instructs me by sorrow and smart;
The veil by correction removes,
And shows me the ground of my heart.
For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him.
30.
Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.
Give me a calm and thankful heart,
From every murmur free;
The blessings of thy grace impart,
And let me live to thee.
But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.
