This lovely little book was also written by King Solomon. It was written by one (Solomon) who loved another (a young shepherdess - the Shulamite) very much. He expresses his love and his delight in the young woman who is his bride. She has made him happy and he delights to remind her of this and of his desire for her joy and blessing.
In this book, the bride also expresses the desire and joy of her heart for her bridegroom. She often expresses her love for her bridegroom and, when she is unable to find him, her sadness at his absence.
At the end of this beautiful series of “poems” or “songs,” love is shown to be so strong that even death cannot stop it. This reminds us of the greatest love of all, the love that our blessed Lord Jesus Christ has for each of us - a love so great that He died on the cross in order to save us and have us with Himself forever.
