Summer.

Made by God. Psa. 74:17¹⁷Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter. (Psalm 74:17).

Yearly return of, secured by covenant. Gen. 8:22²²While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. (Genesis 8:22).

CHARACTERIZED BY

Excessive heat. Jer. 17:8⁸For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit. (Jeremiah 17:8). Excessive drought. Psa. 32:4⁴For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah. (Psalm 32:4).

Approach of, indicated by shooting out of leaves on trees. Matt. 24:32³²Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: (Matthew 24:32).

Many kinds of fruit were ripe and used during. 2 Sam. 16:1¹And when David was a little past the top of the hill, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him, with a couple of asses saddled, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and an hundred bunches of raisins, and an hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine. (2 Samuel 16:1). Jer. 40:10¹⁰As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken. (Jeremiah 40:10). Jer. 48:32³²O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach even to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage. (Jeremiah 48:32).

The ancients had houses or apartments suited to. Judg. 3:20, 24²⁰And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlor, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. (Judges 3:20)
²⁴When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlor were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. (Judges 3:24). Amos 3:15¹⁵And I will smite the winter house with the summer house; and the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end, saith the Lord. (Amos 3:15).

The ant provided her winter food during. Prov. 6:8⁸Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. (Proverbs 6:8). Prov. 30:25²⁵The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; (Proverbs 30:25).

The wise are diligent during. Pro. 10:5⁵He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame. (Proverbs 10:5).

Illustrative of seasons of grace. Jer. 8:20²⁰The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. (Jeremiah 8:20).
