Every writer of the New Testament speaks of the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Paul, James, Peter, Jude, all proclaim this glorious advent.
The Lord is coming for His own first, and then the Lord is coming with them.
"When Christ who is our life shall appear, then shall we also appear with Him in glory." Col. 3:44When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:4).
As to the first part, or stage of His coming, let us ask, Who is coming?
"The Lord Himself." 1 Thess. 4. "This same Jesus." Acts 1. "If I go away, I will come again." John 14.
When is He coming?
"Behold, I come quickly." "Surely, I come quickly." Rev. 22. "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye." 1 Cor. 15:5252In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. (1 Corinthians 15:52). Why is He coming? "To receive His own to Himself, that where He is, there they may be also." John 14. To catch up His loved ones, whether they may be dead or alive, that they may be forever with the Lord. (1 Thess. 4).
This, not death, is the Christian's blessed hope. He may come today! Are you ready?
