And when they were come to . . . a place of a skull, they gave Him vinegar to drink. . . . And they crucified Him.
Last Lord’s Day we considered the Lord’s scourging. Today we come to a place of a skull. We’re at Calvary now. We see the soldiers giving Jesus vinegar to drink (which he rejected). Then we see them nail Him to the cross and drop the cross into a hole in the ground. He groans as the cross hits bottom. His bones are jolted out of joint. Man has done his worst to the Lord. But now He has to face God about the sin question. The worst is not over yet. The cost of our redemption was VERY high.
O Calvary! blest Calvary!
’Twas there the Saviour died for me.
