3. It was man's act-the Gentiles (Mark 10:3434And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again. (Luke 18:33)) did it, though the Jews might have first sought it; while His opening of it to His followers was the proof of His love to them.-" And while they abode in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, The Son of man shall be betrayed into the hands of men: and they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. Thus did He again remind them of the burden that was upon His soul, and prepare them all for it; while at the same time He confirmed to the three who had been with Him in the mount, His reason for having taken them there, and guarded them all from trusting in man.
In Mark 9:32,32But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. (Mark 9:32) it is added, "But they understood not that saying [They shall kill Him; and after that He is killed, &c.,] and were afraid to ask him."
