And brings the truth to light;
Precepts and promises afford
A sanctifying sight.
A glory gilds the sacred page,
Majestic like the sun;
It gives a light to every age …
It gives, but borrows none.
So reasoner, in this modern age,
To God’s own Word take heed;
Proclaiming truth from every page,
Its wisdom meets our need.
