The Strangely-Moving Tennis Racket

Mrs. Andrews loved her cats. Yes, she loved all 28 of them! She had a name for each one and she also had a special shed in the back of her property where she called them all in every evening and made sure they were all accounted for and fed and watered properly.
Late one afternoon, Mrs. Andrews went out to do her daily routine. As she entered the shed and started counting cats, the door swung shut behind her and  ... latched! Mrs. Andrews was shut inside her shed, which was quite a ways from the house. She knew there was no way anyone could hear her even if she shouted her very loudest. “Oh bother!” she said to herself and any cats who might be interested. “Of all times not to have my cell phone with me!” Mrs. Andrews knew that her family would eventually wonder where she was as dinner was to be served in a couple of hours.
Children, are you like Mrs. Andrews—but you are shut out from God? You know He loves you very much! He even sent the Lord Jesus, His Son, to die on the cross for your sins so that you would never be shut out of heaven. We find many verses in the Bible that say we have the privilege of calling to Jesus. He promises to always hear us and will save us from our sins when we ask Him. Or if we do belong to Him, He will help us in whatever or wherever we have a need. “Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me” (Psalm 50:1515And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. (Psalm 50:15)). “In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and He heard me” (Psalm 120:11<<A Song of degrees.>> In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me. (Psalm 120:1)).
Mrs. Andrews looked around the shed and found a tennis racket. She looked and saw with relief that there were a couple inches of space under the shed door. Mrs. Andrews stuck the tennis racket out under the door and, holding the handle, she moved it back and forth, hoping that someone in her family might come looking for her in the backyard. Seeing this strange sight would definitely get their attention!
It worked! Mr. Andrews had come home, seen that the car was there, but his wife wasn’t! When searching the house from top to bottom didn’t find her, he had gone outside looking. As he approached the shed, sure enough, the moving tennis racket caught his attention! Smiling, he unlatched the door and let his wife out! Mrs. Andrews had been stuck in the shed for 2½ hours! She was very thankful that it was the time of year when it wasn’t very cold outside.
Yes, children, you too have Someone who loves you and is searching for you. His name is Jesus. As He knocks on your heart’s door, will you let Him in? He says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:2020Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)).
MEMORY VERSE: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:2020Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20)).
