The Two Portions: Which Is Yours?

 •  9 min. read  •  grade level: 6
MY DEAR READER,
I desire, as God shall help me, to set forth the portion of a believer and that of an unbeliever, and may you honestly say to God which portion is yours.
I.
What God says as to the present and eternal portion of a believer.
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. (John 10:2727My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (John 10:27).) JOH 10:2727My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: (John 10:27)
Quickened us together with Christ.
Raised us up together.
Made us accepted in the Beloved. (v. 6.)
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. (v. 7.)
II.
What God says as to an unbeliever.
I have thus gathered from God's holy Word some passages which refer to believers and unbelievers.
Every one in this world belongs to one or other of these two classes. God has divided the world in John 3:3636He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36) JOH 3:3636He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. (John 3:36) He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
Is one of my readers saying, I wish I belonged to those who have title to all that list of glorious possessions, now and in the future?
Many thousands have passed that way from darkness to light, from the power of Satan unto God; why not you?
Do not rest, I beseech you, till all this blessing is yours. Give not sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids, until you can say, with divine certainty, Everlasting life is mine. "The Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.”
To my fellow-believers I would say, Seeing we are washed, sanctified, justified, brought to God, made meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light; seeing we are forgiven all trespasses, and have eternal life, and can never lose it, let us proclaim to those around the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, who procured every spiritual blessing for us by His death upon the cross, and who says, "Behold, I come quickly." (Rev. 22:77Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Revelation 22:7).) REV 22:77Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Revelation 22:7)
