A gentleman visiting one of the hospitals for lepers in India, and wishing to test the nurse on duty said, "You must have a great deal of enthusiasm for humanity to labor here among these awful cases of disease."
"Enthusiasm for humanity, indeed," replied the nurse, "That would not keep me here a week; but I do possess some of the compassion and enthusiasm of the Lord Jesus Christ, and that is the reason why I am content to live and labor amid such surroundings." It is the "love of Christ" (2 Cor. 5:1414For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: (2 Corinthians 5:14)) that is the motive of all true service for God. "We love Him, because He first loved us." 1 John 4:1919We love him, because he first loved us. (1 John 4:19).
