"And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with Thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for WE REST ON THEE" (2 Chronicles 14:1111And Asa cried unto the Lord his God, and said, Lord, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O Lord our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O Lord, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. (2 Chronicles 14:11)).
"And Jehoshaphat ... said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not Thou God in heaven?...we have no might ... neither know we what to do: but OUR EYES ARE UPON THEE" (2 Chronicles 20:5-6, 125And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, 6And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? (2 Chronicles 20:5‑6)
12O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. (2 Chronicles 20:12)).
We rest on Thee, Thou all sufficient Savior,
The Shepherd, and the Bishop of our souls;
We rest on Thee, the One who changes never,
On Thee, till the eternal ages roll.
We look to Thee, Thou true and loving Shepherd,
Our Counsellor and Guide along the way;
While travelling along life's pilgrim journey,
Our eyes are on Thee, Lord, from day to day.
We rest on Thee, Thou stable, firm foundation,
Eternally secure in Thy strong arms,
We look to Thee, to keep us, Savior, ever,
And shield us from temptation, and from harm.
We look to Thee, in trial and affliction,
Thine eye is ever on us from above;
To Thee we look, with every rising problem,
And trust them to Thy wisdom, and Thy love.
To rest on Him gives peace which passeth knowledge,
Gives quietness and comfort, joy and rest,
For He has promised He will bear our sorrows,
His love can soothe and calm the troubled breast.
We rest on Thee, for all the changing future,
For Thou alone can lead the way aright;
We look to Thee, for every step before us,
And trust Thy love to guide us through the night.
Oh what a solace there is found in Jesus!
To simply keep our eyes on Him and rest;
Committing every circumstance unto Him,
Then leaning on His strong, and loving breast.
There's rich reward in looking unto Jesus,
Acknowledging His guidance all the way:
Oh! keep us with our eyes so fixed upon Thee,
And lead us that we never go astray.
