OUR joys from sorrows chiefly flow:
As earth has warmth beneath the snow;
As spring and its delights appear,
When frost and cold are in the rear;
As summer showers the rainbow form,
And calm succeeds the thunder storm;
‘Tis thus our deepest blessings flow
Through channels form’d by grief and woe;
Their Fount is God, and in His love
They reach our hearts through Christ above.
