What Christ Did for an Infidel.

A bold infidel, theatrical, drinking man writes: ― “When I had given up my theatrical associates for a Christian life, they significantly tapped their foreheads and said, Mad, sir! mad as a March hare!’ Others smiled and exclaimed, ‘What, H. gone over to religion? Bah! one of his freaks; wants to collect material for a new play. He will be back among us in three months, worse than, ever.’
Years have passed and gone and I am not back yet, and the wealth of worlds would not tempt me to cross the threshold of a theater door again, except to preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This I have done on several occasions And from stages where formerly my voice was heard in many a declamatory effort of love or passion, I have joyfully rung out the glorious gospel of God’s pardoning love.”― V.
