Dear young readers, let me ask you what foundation you are building on? The only foundation that will stand is the Rock of Ages. And what is that? I think I hear someone say,
“It is the Lord Jesus Christ.”
Yes, “Other foundation can no man lay, than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Cor. 3:11
11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)
.
Some people would try and make us believe that the Apostle Peter was the rock on which the Church was to be built. But this is not so, Peter was only a stone, and Christ was the Rock. Do you know that the word Peter means “a stone?” But a “stone” and a “rock” are two very different things.
But what a foolish thing it is to build on the sand, when God has given us such a firm foundation as Christ.
“Whosoever heareth these sayings of Mine and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock; and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings, of Mine, and doeth them not shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand; and the rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
Matt. 7:24-27
24
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:24‑27)
.
“On Christ, the solid rock, I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand,”
