There were other matters that the Corinthians wrote to the Apostle (1 Corinthians 7:1) which are taken up. The Lord had said that “it is more blessed to give than to receive” and inasmuch as they came together on the first day of the week to remember the Lord in His death (1 Corinthians 11:25), that was when they should take up a collection. And it wasn’t necessarily one tenth, as in the Old Testament, but now “as God hath prospered him,” which could be more. Paul was a tireless worker for the Lord, taking the gospel everywhere he went as well as giving Christian instruction. Satan did not like this and tried to raise opposition everywhere. Whenever the Lord opened a great door of opportunity, immediately there were many adversaries. The Apostle was not the only one who went around doing the work of the Lord. There were others who were raised up who had the desire the Apostle Paul had for the welfare of God’s people. There was Timotheus (Timothy), Apollos, and the entire house of Stephanas, who had addicted themselves to the service of the saints. There is something we can each do for the Lord, and we can make it a matter of prayer as to what it may be. There was even a couple that had the church in their house. Do you know who they were?
