Instead of going before heathen courts, believers should settle their disputes among themselves. After all, in a coming day, these very believers were going to judge the world. Did they not think that they were capable of judging temporal matters? Not only were they going to judge the world, but angels as well. In the New Testament we read of angels coming into judgment. (See 2 Peter 2:4 and Jude 6.) These are fallen angels who will stand before the Lord Jesus at the throne of judgment and we will be associated with Him. Therefore, instead of going to law, these believers should have been willing to suffer wrong and allow themselves to be defrauded. They were different from what they were before. What made the difference? They were now washed and sanctified by the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God. For what purpose has God given to us our bodies, so fearfully and wonderfully made? To enjoy all types of good food? To indulge in immorality? No, but to serve the Lord while living. Also, if we keep in mind the fact that the body of the believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit, it will keep us from much that will dishonor the One who bought us at such a great price, even His own life’s blood.
