‘TIS the voice of Christ our Saviour,
Come and I will give you rest,
Thou art weary, heavy laden,
Lay thy head upon My breast.
Nought that this poor world can offer
E'er can give the conscience rest,
'Tis alone in Christ our Saviour
That the longing soul is blest.
'Tis in Christ, God's Son from heaven,
That a Saviour can be found,
Peace, and joy, and rest eternal
In that blessed One abound.
Let not wealth, or fame, or pleasure,
Blind thine eyes to things beyond,
Jesus only can avail you,
'Tis in Him true joy is found.
Prove Him then thine endless Portion,
Find in Him thy whole delight,
Through the long and busy daytime,
Through the quiet hours of night.
Then, through those eternal ages,
Thou wilt rest and peace enjoy,
This thine everlasting portion,
Pleasures then without alloy.
