Bandit the Thief

Bandit is a young, energetic puppy. She has been getting herself in a lot of trouble in her new family’s house, running off with clothing, pulling items off of tables, and shredding paper. Her new family’s two kittens often get her lively attention, but for some reason, they don’t like it.
One day, Bandit’s family decided to look for some new toys that would help keep her busy, so off to the local pet store they all went, taking Bandit along on her leash. Bandit got to see some baby chicks, other dogs, and lots of people that came up to greet her, if she hadn’t already greeted them first!
At one point, her family was talking to a lady when the lady noticed Bandit had something in her mouth. “Oh, no! What do you have in there, Puppy?” she asked Bandit. The lady bent down, and Bandit eventually dropped a tiny cat toy into her hand. “I think she has something else in there,” her owner said, and sure enough, after some more persuading, another cat toy dropped out of Bandit’s mouth.
We think it’s a little amusing that this little dog chose not one, but two cat toys! It was as if Bandit wanted to find something to bring home for her
kitty friends!
Bandit didn’t know it was wrong to steal from the store, and she almost got away with shoplifting. We know it’s wrong to steal, but Bandit is only a dog, without a conscience that tells her right from wrong. Children, have you ever done something you knew was wrong and then felt troubled about it? Well, you know what? We all have! Just as Bandit got caught, eventually, we will be caught, too, because the Bible says, “Be sure your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:2323But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the Lord: and be sure your sin will find you out. (Numbers 32:23)). That’s because all our sins are known to God. But the good news is that the Lord Jesus died for us so that all of our sins can be forgiven. “Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins” (Acts 13:3838Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: (Acts 13:38)).
