179. Brightness of Th' Eternal Glory

8,7.
by R. Robinson
1
Brightness of th’ eternal glory,

Shall Thy praise unuttered lie?

Who would hush the heaven-sent story

Of the Lamb who came to die?
“Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” (Hebrews 1:3)
“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Matthew 20:28)
2
Came from Godhead’s fullest glory

Down to Calvary’s depth of woe,

Now on high, we bow before Thee;

Streams of praises ceaseless flow!
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God. But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:6-8)
“And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” (John 17:5)
“And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.” (Luke 23:33)
“If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)
3
Sing His blest triumphant rising;

Sing Him on the Father’s throne;

Sing — till heaven and earth surprising,

Reigns the Nazarene alone.
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” (Matthew 28:6)
“And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.” (Matthew 28:9)
“And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:6)
“Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.” (Luke 24:34)
“To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.” (Revelation 3:21)
“And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Revelation 19:16)
