Character of Saints.

Attentive to Christ's voice. John. 10:3, 4.

Blameless and harmless. Phi. 2:15.

Bold. Pro. 28:1¹The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28:1). Rom. 13:3³For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: (Romans 13:3).

Contrite. Isa. 57:15¹⁵For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. (Isaiah 57:15). Isa. 66:2²For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the Lord: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. (Isaiah 66:2).

Devout. Acts 8:2²And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him. (Acts 8:2). Acts 22:12¹²And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there, (Acts 22:12).

Faithful. Rev. 17:14¹⁴These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. (Revelation 17:14).

Fearing God. Mat. 3:16. Acts 10:2²A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway. (Acts 10:2).

Following Christ. John. 10:4, 27.

Godly. Psa. 4:3³But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto him. (Psalm 4:3). 2 Pet. 2:9⁹The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: (2 Peter 2:9).

Guileless. John. 1:47.

Holy. Deu. 7:6. Deu. 14:2. Col. 3:12¹²Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; (Colossians 3:12).

Humble. Psa. 34:2²My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. (Psalm 34:2). 1 Pet. 5:5⁵Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (1 Peter 5:5).

Hungering after righteousness. Mat. 5:6.

Just. Gen. 6:9⁹These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God. (Genesis 6:9). Hab. 2:4⁴Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4). Luke 2:25²⁵And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. (Luke 2:25).

Led by the Spirit. Rom. 8:14¹⁴For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. (Romans 8:14).

Liberal. Isa. 32:8⁸But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand. (Isaiah 32:8). 2 Cor. 9:13¹³Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men; (2 Corinthians 9:13).

Loving. Col. 1:4⁴Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints, (Colossians 1:4). 1 The. 4:9.

Lowly. Pro. 16:19¹⁹Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. (Proverbs 16:19).

Meek. Isa. 29:19¹⁹The meek also shall increase their joy in the Lord, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 29:19). Mat. 5:5.

Merciful. Psa. 37:26²⁶He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. (Psalm 37:26). Mat. 5:7.

New Creatures. 2 Cor. 5:17¹⁷Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17). Eph. 2:10¹⁰For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10).

Obedient. Rom. 16:19¹⁹For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. (Romans 16:19). 1 Pet. 1:14¹⁴As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: (1 Peter 1:14).

Poor in spirit. Psa. 51:17¹⁷The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. (Psalm 51:17). Mat. 5:3.

Prudent. Pro. 16:21²¹The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning. (Proverbs 16:21).

Pure in heart. Mat. 5:8. 1 John. 3:3.

Righteous. Isa. 60:21²¹Thy people also shall be all righteous: they shall inherit the land for ever, the branch of my planting, the work of my hands, that I may be glorified. (Isaiah 60:21). Luke 1:6⁶And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. (Luke 1:6).

Sincere. 2 Cor. 1:12¹²For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward. (2 Corinthians 1:12). 2 Cor. 2:17¹⁷For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. (2 Corinthians 2:17).

Steadfast. Acts 2:42⁴²And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42). Col. 2:5⁵For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. (Colossians 2:5).

Taught of God. Isa. 54:13¹³And all thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children. (Isaiah 54:13). 1 John. 2:27.

True. 2 Cor. 6:8⁸By honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true; (2 Corinthians 6:8).

Undefiled. Psa. 119:1¹ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord. (Psalm 119:1).

Upright. 1 Kin. 3:6. Psa. 15:2²He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. (Psalm 15:2).

Watchful. Luke 12:37³⁷Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. (Luke 12:37).

Zealous of good works. Tit. 2:14¹⁴Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. (Titus 2:14). Tit. 3:8⁸This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. (Titus 3:8).
