Character of the Wicked.

Abominable. Rev. 21:8⁸But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8).

Alienated from God. Eph. 4:18¹⁸Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: (Ephesians 4:18). Col. 1:21²¹And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled (Colossians 1:21).

Blasphemous. Luke 22:65⁶⁵And many other things blasphemously spake they against him. (Luke 22:65). Rev. 16:9⁹And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory. (Revelation 16:9).

Blinded. 2 Cor. 4:4⁴In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:4). Eph. 4:18¹⁸Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: (Ephesians 4:18).

Boastful. Psa. 10:3³For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth. (Psalm 10:3). Psa. 49:6⁶They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; (Psalm 49:6).

Conspiring against God’s people. Neh. 4:8⁸And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it. (Nehemiah 4:8) Neh. 6:2²That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief. (Nehemiah 6:2) Psa. 38:12¹²They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. (Psalm 38:12)

Covetous. Mic. 2:2²And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage. (Micah 2:2). Rom. 1:29²⁹Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, (Romans 1:29).

Deceitful. Psa. 5:6⁶Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man. (Psalm 5:6). Rom. 3:13¹³Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: (Romans 3:13).

Delighting in the iniquity of others. Pro. 2:14¹⁴Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked; (Proverbs 2:14). Rom. 1:32³²Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:32).

Despising the works of the faithful. Neh. 2:19. Neh. 4:2²And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned? (Nehemiah 4:2). 2 Tim. 3:3, 4³Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, ⁴Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy 3:3‑4).

Destructive. Isa. 59:7⁷Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths. (Isaiah 59:7).

Disobedient. Neh. 9:26²⁶Nevertheless they were disobedient, and rebelled against thee, and cast thy law behind their backs, and slew thy prophets which testified against them to turn them to thee, and they wrought great provocations. (Nehemiah 9:26). Tit. 3:3³For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. (Titus 3:3). 1 Pet. 2:7⁷Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, (1 Peter 2:7).

Enticing to evil. Pro. 1:10-14¹⁰My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not. ¹¹If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause: ¹²Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit: ¹³We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil: ¹⁴Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse: (Proverbs 1:10‑14). 2 Tim. 3:6⁶For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, (2 Timothy 3:6).

Envious. Neh. 2:10¹⁰When Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, heard of it, it grieved them exceedingly that there was come a man to seek the welfare of the children of Israel. (Nehemiah 2:10). Tit. 3:3³For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. (Titus 3:3).

Fearful. Pro. 28:1¹The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion. (Proverbs 28:1). Rev. 21:8⁸But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:8).

Fierce. Pro. 16:29²⁹A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way that is not good. (Proverbs 16:29). 2 Tim. 3:3³Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (2 Timothy 3:3).

Foolish. Deu. 32:6. Psa. 5:5⁵The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. (Psalm 5:5).

Forgetting God. Job 8:13¹³So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite's hope shall perish: (Job 8:13).

Fraudulent. Psa. 37:21²¹The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous showeth mercy, and giveth. (Psalm 37:21). Mic. 6:11¹¹Shall I count them pure with the wicked balances, and with the bag of deceitful weights? (Micah 6:11).

Froward. Pro. 21:8⁸The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right. (Proverbs 21:8). Isa. 57:17¹⁷For the iniquity of his covetousness was I wroth, and smote him: I hid me, and was wroth, and he went on frowardly in the way of his heart. (Isaiah 57:17).

Glorying in their shame. Phi. 3:19.

Hard-hearted. Eze. 3:7⁷But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel are impudent and hardhearted. (Ezekiel 3:7).

Hating the light. Job. 24:13. John. 3:20.

Heady and high-minded. 2 Tim. 3:4⁴Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy 3:4).

Hostile to God. Rom. 8:7⁷Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Romans 8:7). Col. 1:21²¹And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled (Colossians 1:21).

Hypocritical. Isa. 29:13¹³Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: (Isaiah 29:13). 2 Tim. 3:5⁵Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:5).

Ignorant of God. Hos. 4:1¹Hear the word of the Lord, ye children of Israel: for the Lord hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. (Hosea 4:1). 2 Thess. 1:8⁸In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: (2 Thessalonians 1:8).

Impudent. Eze. 2:4⁴For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel 2:4).

Incontinent. 2 Tim. 3:3³Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, (2 Timothy 3:3).

Infidel. Psa. 10:4⁴The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts. (Psalm 10:4). Psa. 14:1¹<<To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.>> The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 14:1). Loathsome. Pro. 13:5⁵A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame. (Proverbs 13:5).

Lovers of pleasure more than of God. 2 Tim. 3:4⁴Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; (2 Timothy 3:4).

Lying. Psa. 58:3³The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. (Psalm 58:3). Psa. 62:4⁴They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. (Psalm 62:4). Isa. 59:4⁴None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity. (Isaiah 59:4).

Mischievous. Pro. 24:8⁸He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person. (Proverbs 24:8). Mic. 7:3³That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. (Micah 7:3).

Murderous. Psa. 10:8⁸He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor. (Psalm 10:8). Psa. 94:6⁶They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless. (Psalm 94:6). Rom. 1:29²⁹Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, (Romans 1:29).

Prayerless. Job 21:15¹⁵What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him? (Job 21:15). Psa. 53:4⁴Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God. (Psalm 53:4).

Persecuting. Psa. 69:26²⁶For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. (Psalm 69:26). Psa. 109:16¹⁶Because that he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. (Psalm 109:16).

Perverse. Deu. 32:5.

Proud. Psa. 59:12¹²For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak. (Psalm 59:12). Oba. 3. 2 Tim. 3:2²For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:2).

Rejoicing in the affliction of saints. Psa. 35:15¹⁵But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: (Psalm 35:15).

Reprobate. 2 Cor. 13:5⁵Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? (2 Corinthians 13:5). 2 Tim. 3:8⁸Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. (2 Timothy 3:8). Tit. 1:16¹⁶They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. (Titus 1:16).

Selfish. 2 Tim. 3:2²For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:2).

Sensual. Phi. 3:19. Jude 19¹⁹These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. (Jude 19).

Sold under sin. 1 Kin. 21:20. 2 Kin. 17:17.

Stiff-hearted. Eze. 2:4⁴For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God. (Ezekiel 2:4).

Stiff-necked. Exo. 33:5⁵For the Lord had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee. (Exodus 33:5). Acts 7:51⁵¹Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. (Acts 7:51).

Uncircumcised in heart. Jer. 9:26²⁶Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart. (Jeremiah 9:26). Acts 7:51⁵¹Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. (Acts 7:51).

Unjust. Pro. 11:7⁷When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. (Proverbs 11:7). Isa. 26:10¹⁰Let favor be showed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the Lord. (Isaiah 26:10).

Unmerciful. Rom. 1:31³¹Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: (Romans 1:31).

Ungodly. Pro. 16:27²⁷An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire. (Proverbs 16:27).

Unholy. 2 Tim. 3:2²For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:2).

Unprofitable. Mat. 25:30. Rom. 3: 12.

Unruly. Tit. 1:10¹⁰For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: (Titus 1:10).

Unthankful. Luke 6:35³⁵But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. (Luke 6:35). 2 Tim. 3:2²For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (2 Timothy 3:2).

Untoward. Acts 2:40⁴⁰And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. (Acts 2:40).
